Designing began back when I was young. My mother fully supported me and my siblings’ computer addiction and at one point we each had a cheap desktop that allowed us to be on the computer as much as possible. Aside from the constant gaming, I started to experiment with HTML, CSS, and graphic design. It first started with Neopets custom pages, but after joining design communities with other amateurs I stayed inspired to keep learning.
After majoring in web design and development, I spent a couple of years doing web and graphic design for marketing. After getting an opportunity to work on a couple of UI/UX projects for the products department, I was sold. The balance between problem solving and creative outlet in user experience design reminded me of web design, but was so much more - with putting the user first and doing research, trying to understand their end goal.
I love that UX design allows me not just to get design requirements from stakeholders, but also gather research from customers and external users. I also love the scientific process of product design. As a type A personality myself, I need the rigid processes to express myself creatively. One thing I want to improve on as a product designer is being able to understand data analytics. I think it's a great way to improve and understand product usage.
When I’m not designing, I enjoy planning anything from parties to trips. My type A personality craves any type of organization, and the outcome of planning a party or a trip is always well worth it. I also enjoy crocheting, reading, and snowboarding.
