The Project
This was a design challenge I had done where we had to create a solution where potential pet owners can go and find pets that would fit their lifestyle. Since this was done within a week, There were assumptions of certain scenarios because no user research or testing was done.

My Role
This project was done on my own, as a challenge to practice UI and UX design.

Project Assumptions - What we know about Pet Lovers
Before getting started, I identified assumptions of potential pet owners to better understand their thought process when thinking to purchase an animal:
- Owners consider the type of animal based on their living situation - whether they live in an apartment or temporary living situation, or in a permanent home
- Owners consider the amount of time they can dedicate to an animal, and how long it can be left at home alone and whether they can sacrifice the amount of time
- Owners consider the age of the animal depending on whether they want a younger pet who they can train, or an older pet that requires less training

What pet is right for me?
I mapped out the user flow to understand the journey of adopting a pet, and identify where in the process the user would struggle the most when trying to adopt a pet.
I decided to focus on improving the "browsing for a pet" because it's the start where they are going to make a long term commitment. From here, creating an app that will easily suggest animals based on their lifestyle and needs can help the research process.

Variations of pet owners
I asked hypothetical users what they would consider if they were planning on adopting a pet, to help me develop user personas to keep in mind throughout the design process. From these results I created 3 specific users to refer to when making decisions.

Wireframing and Prototyping
After doing competitive analysis and considering what they had needed, I created wireframes. For the homepage, I started with filters to show immediate results that will relate to what the user is looking for.

What I learned
As one of the first product design challenges, I learned a couple things going through this process.
1. Take more time to define the needs of the customer
2. Create multiple solutions and weigh out the pro's and con's of each
